FAQ

What is a giclée print?

Giclée prints are museum-quality Fine Art prints. Giclée is a French term coming from gicler which means to spray, referencing the inkjet printing process that is used to both match colour and precisely apply inks. Printed with pigment-based inks, rather than dye-based, giving a far superior result to regular printed reproductions. These giclée prints have the sharpest detail with a complete colour spectrum, are strongly fade resistant, and of a truly durable museum quality.

Where are they printed?

The prints are beautifully printed by The Copper House Gallery in Dublin, a Hahnemühle Certified Studio and Ireland's longest established photographic and fine art printing studio. All of their prints are made under the most rigorous archival conditions. Some may be found in museums and collections worldwide.

What kind of paper is used?

The paper used is Hahnemühle photo rag archival paper, a leading German FineArt paper mill. It is 100% cotton with a soft feel, is acid free, and meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance. We have used 305 gsm photo rag paper for these prints.

What is a deckled edge?

Simply a hand-torn edge. The option is there to float the print in a picture frame so the deckled edge is visible.

What sizes are available?

The larger prints are 300 x 400 mm / 12 x 16 inches.

The smaller prints are 250 x 208 mm / 10 x 8 inches.

Both are very popular sizes for ready made picture frames.

Are all the prints signed?

Yes! Any print that comes from a picture book by author Erika McGann and illustrator Gerry Daly will be pencil signed by both. Any print coming from a picture book written and illustrated by Gerry Daly (myself) will be pencil signed by me.

How are the prints packaged?

The prints are sent to you wrapped in tissue paper inside a rigid cardboard stay-flat envelope with a piece of cardboard included for that extra strength.

Do you also provide framing?

I’m sorry, but framed prints are not available from the shop. The sizes of the prints are standard frame sizes that are available in many popular retailers. For a more bespoke frame your local framer will do a great job.

What is the processing time?

All orders will ship within three business days after purchase.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

The prints are shipping with standard post from Dublin, Ireland. Once shipped, delivery is expected within approx 3-5 business days within Ireland, within approx 5-10 business days to the UK, within approx 7-10 business days to EU, within approx 7-14 business days to the rest of Europe, within approx 10-14 business days to the US and Canada, and within approx 14-18 business days to the rest of the world.

Please take care to enter your delivery address correctly as Gerry Daly Art can't be held responsible for lost or missing post if the delivery address was entered incorrectly.

Will shipping costs increase if I buy more than one print?

No, there is no extra delivery charge for more than one print. Two or more will fit snugly within the packaging.

Will I have to pay any taxes on delivery?

For deliveries outside of Ireland, please be aware there might be customs charges/taxes to pay on delivery in your country and are the responsibility of the buyer. Any enquiries about this please direct to your local postal services.

Do the prints exactly match the illustrations in the picture books?

The books are printed lithographically with CMYK separation. The giclée ink-jet process uses RGB files, this can result in a slight difference in colour brightness. Please refer to the unfiltered product photos for a close look at the giclée prints.

Will there be prints of other illustrations?

I hope so! Most likely some other illustrations that are not related to published work. Please keep on eye on social media posts for news of any forthcoming additions.

Will there be limited editions?

Currently there are no plans to have limited print runs. But perhaps at a future date.

All rights reserved

Thank you so much for purchasing one of the prints! Just a wee reminder that when buying a print from this shop, all rights are reserved, the same as they are in the books.

Do you sell signed copies of your books?

Currently no, but perhaps someday soon! We always visit bookshops when a new book is published, sometimes together, and sign many copies. Also when visiting a school, library or festival event if the local bookshop has our books in stock, we will often sign books and then spread the word.

Where can I buy your books?

The books are published by The O’Brien Press and they are available to buy through their website. They also retail at your favourite bookseller! Please support your local bookshops if you can : )

Do you accept returns?

Yes but only if the print is damaged. A return must be sent within three days of contacting me regarding the damaged print. A replacement print will ship within three days upon recieving the damaged print. If a replacement is currently not in stock the option offered will be to wait until a new print is ready or to take a look at the alternative prints currently available.
